In War Machine, a comic war story for today, writer-director David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) deals with the rapid rise and fall of an American General as part of both a real and a brutal parody. Michôd is taking a funny look at a self-confident march in the midst of an adventurous leader's adventure. Brad Pitt, who starred in the story, plays the successful, handsome four-star General Stanley McChrystal, one of the most controversial warlike characters of his generation. General McChrystal has emerged as a rock star to manage the NATO forces in Afghanistan, but he has been fired by a journalist's critique of all the secret aspects of a journalist.
